To travel the Earth you need your feet on the ground.

A substantial amount of scientific literature has made it certain that flying damages the planet. According to the European Federation for Transport and Environment, aviation was responsible for 4 to 9 per cent of the climate change impact of global human activity. Global warming is now a recognized priority that requires urgent action - else, the consequeces will be catastrophic.
Does this mean that we should stop flying altogether?
It would maybe be great, but it is sounds unreasonable, and is probably impossible.

But what we can do is flying less. An increasing number of people has been opting for no-flight travel. Not only did they enjoy a greener holiday, they also found out that keeping your feet on the ground - or the sea - is much more fun.

Travelling without flying is much more interesting. You live every moment of your journey; and rediscover the genuine spirit of travelling.

Here is where we came about.

Idontfly.com is not a travel agency; what we do is research alternative routes to travel the Earth, and put them online. You can check them, check timetables, and plan your no flight holiday. We help you go for an alternative, more respectful way of travelling.

We have just arrived, but we hope to grow with your help. You can write your opinions, your suggestions, your travel stories to us.

If your philosophy is like ours, just get in touch with us at mail@idontfly.com

Travel vs flying

Seeing a place – the fever of tourists, the craziness of weekend deals, the madness of cheap flights – is a ferocious hunger. You go, you see, you take a picture or you take a swim. To get there, you will have consumed a few thousands gallons of oil. And then, after your smiley picture or you hurried swim, you will have to rush back to your house and your work – burning a few more tons of petrol. That’s why your visit will be a step towards the destruction of the place you are visiting. Is that a cool way to see a place? Is that love?

No it is not.

But there is a way to plan your holiday with love. A non-destructive way. The green way to your holidays goes through the seas and the Earth. It will take longer, it will be harder. But you will rediscover something you might have forgotten: traveling.

You will go back to the times when the travel was part of the adventure – and of the fun. Going from a place to another place will not be anymore a transfer, something of a wasted time. Traveling will be part of your experience. Your eyes will see the landscape changing slowly, your ears will ear the people talking in different languages. Your body will feel the temperature rising on your skin day by day, not all of a sudden when you climb down the plane.
